Adjust your attitude. Assume the role of the person that you want to be; a person who has already achieved success.
“Always self-promote’ 24/7 and be very intentional.” Tommy Newberry the author of The 4:8 Principle (Tyndale House Publishers, 2007) states. “First, know what your end game is, where you want to be, how you want to be perceived, at least 10 years down the road if not 20 or 30. The clearer you know at the outset what you want your life and career to be, the easier it will be figure out how you should promote yourself.”
According to Newberry, “Aligning your habits with the person you want to be is the first step in making yourself attractive to others.” Exude confidence, competence, not doubt. “Don’t use wishy-washy words like ‘hope to’ and ‘if all works out well,’” Newberry warns. “Claim future as a certainty. Act now with the confidence that you would have if you already accomplished you biggest goals.”
“Don’t say, “I want to be a software entrepreneur,” Newberry advises. “Declare, ‘I’m the CEO of ABC Software Company.’ Think that way. You don’t have to verbalize that attitude to everyone, but walk around and act like it already occurred. If you imagine that it happened and act as if that is your reality, people will pick up on it. However, if you hesitate or show doubt, you will be less attractive to them. Create the right attitude mentally before you create it in reality.”
Minimize the risk by being willing to pay the price; work hard to become the person you want to be. “If you know that you are going to back up your words with hard work, it will give you the confidence to act the part.” Newberry observes.”
